I’m happy to announce new materials for researchers interested in studying Vietnam’s politics during 1945-1954. 

The US-Vietnam Research Center at the University of Oregon just began publishing a collection of interview transcripts. These interviews were conducted by Professor Nguyen Manh Hung (George Mason University, emeritus) under the auspices of the US Social Science Research Council, from 1986 to 2021. 

His 33 interviewees included leaders and important party members of nationalist parties in Vietnam in the first half of the 20th century, including Việt Nam Quốc Dân Đảng (Vietnam Nationalist Party), Đại Việt Quốc Dân Đảng (Nationalist Party of Greater Vietnam), and Đại Việt Duy Dân Đảng (Populist Revolutionary Party of Greater Vietnam).

In this article, readers can find links to interview transcripts in the Vietnamese page of the US-Vietnam Research Center’s website.

We first publish interviews with historical figures of Đại Việt Quốc Dân Đảng to be followed by the other two parties. We intend to publish one transcript every 2 weeks, and have published 4 such documents. FYI, all the transcripts are in original Vietnamese language and have not been translated into English.
